lets do it on the bus
Monday March 26, 2007
Last week was our spring break, and I did manage to take a few days off. So today everyone is back to work. Found out yesterday that I get to drive bus number 7 for about three weeks. Bus #7 is a extra bus that we have and it's a lift bus. Until this year it ran kids in wheel chairs and some special ed. kids to Des Moines everyday. This year that route is not needed so bus #7 is a spare. Well over spring break a boy named Mason, who is one of our special ed kids had surgery and must be in his wheel chair for at least three weeks. I am not sure what all is wrong with Mason, all I can tell you right now is he is a nice kid with a big smile, and likes to tell everyone hi everyday. He doesn't walk very well, one of the reasons why he needed more surgery. I have been told he has had a few.........Here is a kid that knew he had surgery coming up, knew he would be back in his wheel chair, also knows that he will be depending upon others to transport him around. Will have hours of theropy in the weeks to come. He comes to school today with a smile on his face, tells everyone hi..... For all those teachers and others that complained they had to come back to work after a week off, I wish I could tell you to shut up because look at Mason with his smile on his face who spent his spring break in a hospital, and now must be in a wheel chair and in a few more days will start some painful theropy. Sometimes people forget how lucky they have it..... I am looking forward to my new buddy as we drive down the roads togeather. I will have to share more about him as I get to know him better.

.Warning rumor has it there may be grumpy people in Indiana today..... I heard that they joined the Eastern time zone, to do this they sprang ahead two hours on Sunday. As we all complain about adjusting to one hour, think if you had to spring ahead two..... Why didn't they just spring a head one hour, last Sunday and be grumpy just like everyone else, and this fall just not set your clocks back an hour. Then this fall you would be on the Eastern time zone? So today as you are grumpy or in a good mood making everyone hate you even more, just remember to take it easy on the people from Indiana. Do you remember to set your clocks head Sunday or where you late this morning? One last question, Did you check the batteries in the smoke detectors? No, I wasn't late and Yes I did check the smoke detectors. The clocks at work for some reason didn't set to the time change, so according to the master clock I was an hour early. If the clocks aren't right when I go home I am leaving an hour early Yes it was dark when I came to work this morning, makes the day feel gloomy. But hey 60 degrees today, Stayed about freezing last night. You all have a great day.....and be grumpy.....and if you are from Indiana just be down right mean! | | | |

The saying is time changes everything, so why do we have to change time? Do you find it harder to get use to the hour a head in the spring or the hour behind in the fall? Or do you just hate both of them? There are a few states that don't mess with time. At one time I was working in a school building that had 40 clocks that I had to change one at a time, that was not much fun. Now it's done with a master clock. As I was thinking about time, I realized that I just passed my second year for being retired from the Army/Army reserves. Do I miss it? No not really. There people and things about it I do miss. I always liked going to my annual training. I got to travel to many places, meet new friends. But then again, its been two years without running two miles for the physcial fitness test, or doing set ups or push ups. As I look back I also can tell you that I still love my country, the flag and those who serve, no less today than I did two years ago. Yes I have thought about coming out of retirement from time to time. The Army has changed, I have changed. It seems we never have time anymore. Or we wonder where the time goes. There has even been a couple of colleges offering classes on time management. Everytime we change the clocks I always think about the movie National Treasure, the time change helps solve one clue of a puzzle, if you haven't seen that movie make some time and see it this weekend. Have you ever thought about making time, grab the clock and hold the second hand still for awhile and the only thing you get done is making your clock run late to everyone elses, so you will be late to everything. Some people I know they are already late to everyting....maybe they already tried making time. While changeing all your clocks take a few extra minutes and change the batteries in the smoke detectors. It's a good time to do that. Since we are on the subject of time, take time to catch a sunrise or sunset, call that brother, sister, mom or dad that you haven't talked to for awhile. Go find yourself a new blog friend they are out there. Or just find a minute or two just for yourself. In most peoples lives the time we neglect the most is the time we spend on ourselfs. Maybe you need to spend some one on one time with someone, they will be glad that you do. So when Monday comes try to be the one that doesn't complain about the hour we lost by setting are clocks ahead, brag about the minute or two you found..... Well I think I have wasted enough of your time, so I will let you go and if you a have second feel free to leave on comment, and thanks for your time....

Several counties in Iowa have put gravel roads off limits to school buses. I live and work in one of those counties. This is do to the poor conditions of the roads because of the winter weather we have had...
However it could be worse, thought I would share this with you. No I don't work for the school dirstrict that I am about to mention....
An investigation is under way into a n early morning fire that destroyed the entire fleet of school buses belonging to the Sergeant Bluff-Luton School District in northwest Iowa. Sergeant Bluff is near Sioux City Iowa. The fire broke out in the district's bus barn just outside Sergeant Bluff around 1:00 am Tuesday. The Superintendent said "Anything the district owned that had wheels on it was destroyed. That includes eleven buses plus tractors and snow removal equipment. There was no immediate word on the cause of the fire. The state fire marshal's office is investigating. Meanwhile, the district is asking parents to car pool their kids their children to school Tuesday. The district is also asking other districts for extra buses that can be put into service. Six fire departments were called to help fight the fire. Water had to be hauled in.

Jake wakes up with a huge hangover after a night at a business function. He forces himself to open his eyes and the first thing he sees is a couple of asprins next to a glass of water on the side of the table and next to them, sets a single red rose! Jack sits down and sees his clothing in front of him, all clean and pressed. Jack looks around the room and sees it in perfect order, spotlessly clean. So is rest of the house. He takes the aspirins, cringes when he sees a huge black eye staring back at him in the bathroom mirror and notices a note on the table: "Honey, breakfast is on the stove, I left early to go shopping- Love you!!" He stumbles to the kitchen and sure enough, there is a hot breakfast and the morning news paper, His son is also at the table eating. Jack asks, "Son... what happened last night?" "Well, you came home after 3:00 am., drunk and out of your mind. You broke the coffee table, puked in the hallway and got that black eye when you ran into the door." "So, why is everything in such perfect order, so clean, I have a rose and breakfast is on the table waiting for me?" His son replies, "Oh, THAT! Mom dragged you to the bedroom and when she tried to take your pants off, you screamed, "Leave me alone, I'm married!!!"
Broken table - $200 Hot breakfast- $7 Red Rose bud -$3 Two aspirins - $.25 Saying the right thing at the right time.......................Priceless!!!!!
